I’ve had a lot of requests over the years to do what’s commonly called the “Ghost Manequin” effect in Photoshop for various clothing retailers, wholesalers, and distributors. It’s an easy trick that makes an article of clothing look like it’s being worn by an invisible person.
Now, we slide the modified back portion of the garment in behind the front portion. With our added shading and a little color matching to make up for the difference in camera exposures, the two blend seamlessly for a great effect. You get the full 3D appearance and shape of the garment in use without the model or mannequin!
Hope you’ve found this useful, and feel free to leave a comment if you have anything to add.
